LOCAL OFFICER RECOGNIZED FOR SAVING TEENS LIFE..

LOCAL OFFICER RECOGNIZED FOR SAVING TEENS LIFE…Today, the Sierra Vista Police Department recognized #SVPolice Officer Phaydra Sperle not just for the actions she took to help save a young girl’s life in 2021 but also for her continued support to both the girl and her mother following the incident. The incident in question also happened to be Officer Sperle’s first call for service on her first shift as a solo officer just off field training!
On March 15, 2021, Officer Sperle responded to a report of a 13-year-old girl who was unresponsive and not breathing. When she arrived on scene, Officer Sperle immediately began lifesaving measures including taking over CPR and requesting an AED. Officer Sperle continued CPR until she was relieved by the responding paramedics. The child was transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in Tucson for advanced care.
Officer Sperle did not stop there. She maintained contact with the mother of the child and checked on her recovery as she was removed from a ventilator and began rehabilitation. Sperle then traveled to Tucson on June 9, 2021, to meet with the mother and child to check in as she continued to make progress with her recovery.
“Officer Sperle not only substantially contributed to saving this young girl’s life, but also went above and beyond with her continued support for the mother and child. It is for these reasons that Phaydra Sperle is recognized for the Sierra Vista Police Department’s 2021 Lifesaving Award.”
Congratulations Officer Sperle!

LOCAL REPORTER REPORTS ON OWN MOTHERS HOME FIRE FRIDAY MORNING at 297

LOCAL REPORTER REPORTS ON OWN MOTHERS HOME FIRE FRIDAY MORNING at 297 Sherbundy St. Sierra Vista AZ
01-07-2022
At approximately 7:34 AM, units with the Sierra Vista Police Department, Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services, and the Fort Huachucha Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire at 297 Sherbundy st.
SVPD officers arrived first on the scene and observed brown smoke billowing from the structure.
SVPD and SVNN attempted to gain entry into the residence before the fire crew’s arrival, but were quickly overcome by heat and smoke and were forced to exit.
Fire and medical crews arrived on the scene and immediately began an aggressive interior attack on the fire and a primary search. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Fire crews located seven cats, six ferrets, one snake, and a dog deceased in the home.
Thankfully the homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but the fire did originate in the kitchen area.
The fire burned the entirety of the kitchen area and into the living room.
All rooms in the residence sustained smoke and water damage.
The home was owned by co-owner of SVNN Melissa Bennett, Zach Bennett’s mother.
At this time, we would like to reach out to the members of the community for any assistance they are willing to give. A go fund me has been set up here:

ARREST MADE IN DEATH OF 18-YEAR OLD BISBEE TEEN AFTER ALTERCATION EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

CCSO PRESS RELEASE
Sheriff’s Office Investigates Bisbee Homicide
Update 12-21-2021 1430 hours
Four friends, all Bisbee residents, were reportedly camping in the Juniper Flats area northwest of Bisbee on Friday night. Shortly after midnight, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a disturbance in the area of Juniper Flats and several units responded along with a member of the Tombstone Marshal’s Office who was in the nearby at the time of the call.
Upon Deputies arrival they observed three male subjects outside of a conversion van, all appearing to be injured. One subject reacted aggressively toward law enforcement by fighting and was ultimately subdued. Personnel from the Bisbee Fire Department responded and began medical triage and life saving measures.
Medical personnel advised that 18-year-old Quin Radhe was non-responsive, 17 year-old Christopher Golden was airlifted to a Tucson hospital for treatment of injuries, and a 16 year old was transferred to a local hospital for treatment of injuries as well. Another 16 year-old returned to the scene after leaving as the altercation began, and he was not injured.
Through interviews and investigation, it is determined that there were drugs involved in this incident and 17 year-old Christopher Golden reportedly attempted to harm himself with a knife before the others tried to subdue him when one received serious injuries and the other ultimately died.
17 -year- old Christopher Golden of Bisbee was arrested in Tucson on Monday December 20, 2021 and booked into the Cochise County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a police officer. Golden remains in custody on a $150,000 bond.
A search warrant was served today on the vehicle to identify items of evidence to include the weapon used in this incident. The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division.

A MESSAGE FROM SSVECTHE COOPERATIVE IS GIVING BACK 4 MILLION DOLLARS IN CAPITAL CREDITS BACK TO IT'S MEMBERS....

A MESSAGE FROM SSVEC‼️THE COOPERATIVE IS GIVING BACK 4 MILLION DOLLARS IN CAPITAL CREDITS BACK TO IT’S MEMBERS….This is the largest give back in the Cooperatives 83-year history.
We talk with Jack Blair SSVEC Chief Member Services Officer about the exciting news!
A capital credits distribution of $4 million for Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) members of record in 1994, ’95, and 2020 will begin December 15,
Chief Executive Officer
Creden Huber announced Monday.
“This represents the largest distribution of capital credits in our 83-year history,” Huber said. “The board
of directors agreed unanimously to take this action to reflect the ongoing investment by our members in
the Cooperative.”
Members receiving a capital credit payment of $20 or more will receive checks based on their consumption of electricity. Those receiving less than $20 will receive a billing credit on their January or February, 2022, monthly statement and members with an outstanding balance with the Cooperative will have the capital credit applied to that balance.
Capital credits represent revenue earned beyond expenses by the not-for-profit Cooperative. The SSVEC board of Directors decides whether to distribute these capital credits each year. Previous distributions have been made to members of record from 1995 and earlier. “Even though SSVEC is not-for-profit, we are required by the Arizona Corporation Commission and our bankers to meet certain financial requirements, which includes recording a profit, or margin, each year,” Huber said.
These margins are returned to members over time, Huber said, with money being invested in the
infrastructure and maintenance of the electrical distribution grid.
“The Board of Directors elected by our members determines how much and when the capital credits are
returned,” Huber said.
SSVEC has returned more than $25 million in capital credits to its members since it was founded in 1938.
More than half that amount has been paid out by the Cooperative since 2003. Margins are divided among members based on the amount of electricity they used during the designated year.
Huber said some members who received electric service from SSVEC in 1994, 1995 or in 2020 should watch their mail after Dec. 15, the date that checks will begin to be distributed by the Cooperative.
Members with an outstanding balance, should examine their monthly statement for the credit. SSVEC, which distributes electricity to more than 60,000 meters in four counties, is the largest electric cooperative in Arizona. It serves about 39,000 members.
Unclaimed capital credits, or capital credits that are donated by SSVEC members, generates revenue for
the SSVEC Foundation. The Foundation is a charitable, tax-exempt organization that promotes youth and education programs, and provides financial assistance to community organizations. Among the programs funded and sponsored by the SSVEC Foundation are the Washington Youth Tour, the Youth Engineering and Science Fair and the SSVEC Scholarship Program.

A onetime Army sergeant from Sierra Vista who is serving more than 220 years in prison for possessing a collection of child pornography and molesting a young girl in 2007 while recording the abuse will be the subject of a hearing in a Cochise County courtroom Tuesday in hopes of overturning his convictions.
