🎭 Buena Fine Arts Presents Horse Girl 🐴

Get ready for a night of dark comedy, teenage intensity, and a whole lot of horse obsession! Buena Fine Arts proudly presents Horse Girl, a dark teen comedy by Jenny Rachel Weiner.

At the center of Horse Girl is Ashleigh, a 12-year-old equestrian enthusiast whose world revolves around horses and her riding club, the Lady Jean Ladies.

When the girls learn that their beloved horses may be in danger, their devotion quickly escalates into an increasingly wild mission to save them. What begins as youthful passion takes some surprising—and very darkly funny—turns as the play explores friendship, loyalty,
obsession, growing up, and just how far someone might go for something they love.

But the story on stage is only part of what makes this production special.

This is student theatre from curtain to curtain. Buena students aren't just the performers you see on stage—they are involved in designing, building, and running the entire production. From sets and costumes to lighting, backstage operations, technical production, and even the ticket booth, students are gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of bringing a live theatrical production to life.

When you attend a Buena High School Fine Arts production, you're not simply coming to see a play. You're supporting student actors, designers, technicians, artists, builders, and creators who have put their talents and

❤️ SIERRA VISTA LIFEGUARDS HONORED WITH NATIONAL AWARDS AFTER HELPING SAVE 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — A moment that began as a frightening emergency at The Cove has now resulted in national recognition for three Sierra Vista lifeguards whose training, teamwork and willingness to act helped save a young girl’s life.

On Thursday 9/24 at the Sierra Vista City Council meeting, lifeguards Nathan Gluck, Briana Kellie and Jocelyn Hite were recognized with national awards from the American Red Cross for their actions during a medical emergency one year ago.

On September 25, 2025, a seven-year-old girl experienced a medical emergency in the water during swim practice. Lifeguards who were both on and off duty quickly came together, along with a bystander, to pull the child from the water and begin CPR.

Within 45 seconds, she was revived.

The team continued providing care until emergency medical personnel arrived.

For her actions, Jocelyn Hite received the American Red Cross Lifesaving Award for Professionals, an honor recognizing individuals who save or sustain a life while performing their professional duties outside of a medical setting.

Nathan Gluck and Briana Kellie received the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit, the highest award given by the Red Cross. Both had received Red Cross training through their employment at The Cove, but were off duty when the emergency happened and stepped in to help anyway.

Mayor Clea McCaa and Sports and Aquatics Supervisor John Healy presented the awards during Thursday’s meeting.

Gluck, who has since enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic Specialist, joined the ceremony virtually while his father and brothers accepted the award on his behalf.

Behind these awards is something even more meaningful: a little girl was able to go home because people were trained, prepared and willing to act when every second mattered.

Congratulations to Nathan, Briana and Jocelyn on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for representing the very best of service, courage and compassion in our community.
