‼️ ALL SIERRA VISTA POLICE FLOCK CAMERAS HAVE BEEN REMOVED ‼️

The City of Sierra Vista has confirmed that all Flock Safety license plate reader cameras previously operated by the Sierra Vista Police Department have been removed and are no longer in service.

According to City officials, the decision followed a February 24 City Council work session that included public comments, a presentation from the Sierra Vista Police Department, and input from a Flock Safety representative. Following that discussion, a consensus was reached to terminate the City’s contract with Flock Safety, which officially ended on April 2, 2026.

Publicly available mapping data has previously shown 10 Flock camera locations within Sierra Vista, including 5 near Lowe’s, 4 near Home Depot, and 1 near Rodolfo’s Taco Shop on 7th St.

The camera near Rodolfo’s is part of the City’s contract and was scheduled to be removed last week. City officials advised that the removal is slightly behind schedule and will occur soon. The camera is not operational.

Once the camera near Rodolfo’s on 7th St. is removed, City officials say any Flock cameras remaining within Sierra Vista will be privately owned and operated. Those cameras are not affiliated with, monitored by, or maintained by the City of Sierra Vista or the Sierra Vista Police Department.

The removal also follows Cochise County’s decision earlier this year to explore alternative license plate reader vendors rather than moving forward with Flock Safety.

While Sierra Vista may consider license plate reader technology again in the future, officials say any discussions would involve public presentations and community input before any decisions are made. At this time, no discussions are expected before 2027.

Emergency crews are currently on scene responding to a reported fire at the Western Regional Landfill in Huachuca City.

At this time, first responders are actively working the incident, and members of the public are being asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel room to operate safely and efficiently.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released, and it is unknown at this time whether any injuries have been reported.

‼️ PIT STOP GOURMET BURGERS CLOSES ITS DOORS IN SIERRA VISTA ‼️

After serving the Sierra Vista community for several years, Pit Stop Gourmet Burgers officially closed its doors following its final day of business on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

CoolFMLive contacted the restaurant and they stated the last day was Sunday June 14.

The restaurant, which opened in 2020, became known for its gourmet burger offerings and developed a loyal customer following during its time in business.

The closure comes following a series of challenges and public controversies that brought increased attention to the business in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, CoolFMLive reported on a Sierra Vista Police Department investigation involving the restaurant’s founders. According to a police report, the individuals were arrested, cited, and released in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart. The matter was documented in official police records.

As with all criminal cases, an arrest or citation does not constitute guilt, and all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

In addition, CoolFMLive has been contacted by multiple individuals who identified themselves as former employees of the restaurant. Several alleged they experienced delayed paychecks, unpaid wages, or difficulties obtaining W-2 forms and other employment-related documents.

CoolFMLive has not independently verified all of those claims, and we are not aware of any official findings or determinations from labor authorities regarding the allegations at this time.

The closure of a local business often affects more than just ownership. Employees, customers, vendors, and members of the community can all feel the impact when a business closes, particularly one that had become a familiar part of the local dining scene.

While many residents will remember Pit Stop Gourmet Burgers for its food and customer experience, others may reflect on the circumstances surrounding its final weeks of operation.
