We love seeing young athletes from our community work hard, chase big goals and represent Southern Arizona with pride.
Liam is currently in 1st place in his group for the 2026 Youth Athlete of the Year competition! Now, we’re encouraging our community to get behind him and help keep that momentum going.
Liam is described as a talented athlete, selfless teammate and hard worker who values sportsmanship and works to improve even when no one is watching. One of his biggest inspirations is his Grandpa, with whom he shares a special bond through their love of sports.
His dedication has already created some unforgettable moments. During a baseball tournament last Christmas, Liam made an impressive diving catch in left field that caught the attention of the tournament director, who later recognized him as Player of the Game.
The Youth Athlete of the Year winner will receive $25,000 and an opportunity to be featured in Sports Illustrated and on CBS. Supporters can cast a FREE vote each day, with additional voting options available through donations benefiting the Why Not You Foundation.

**UPDATE: Suspect has been located and was arrested by DPS near Casa Grande, AZ**
BENSON, Ariz. — Authorities are searching the Benson area for a man reportedly wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing.
Law enforcement issued an attempt-to-locate at approximately 11:31 a.m. Saturday in the area of Interstate 10 near Mile Marker 306.
Preliminary information describes the individual as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing more than 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be traveling in a red hatchback. No license plate information is currently available.
The man’s current location and direction of travel are unknown. Information provided during the search indicated he may possibly be traveling toward Mexico.
The public should not attempt to approach or contact the individual. Anyone who believes they have located the man or vehicle should contact law enforcement and provide the location and direction of travel.

According to information available at this time, the suspect is believed to be armed and remains barricaded inside the business.
SWAT personnel are currently en route to the scene as law enforcement continues to secure the area.
This remains an ACTIVE SCENE. Members of the public are urged to avoid the area and give first responders room to work.

Time is flying, and one of Sierra Vista’s favorite longtime traditions will be here before we know it!
The Huachuca Art Association is getting ready to celebrate the 54th Annual Art in the Park at Veterans Memorial Park, bringing together talented artists, makers and creative vendors for a wonderful weekend in the community.
This year, there will be many new creative vendors joining the event, giving you even more to explore and shop — from photography and paintings to jewelry, ceramics, glass, woodworking, fiber arts, yard art, apparel and so much more!
