🕊️REMEMBERING DEE: A LIFETIME OF LOVE, SERVICE, AND DEDICATION TO SIERRA VISTA 🕊️
Some people leave a lasting impact on a community, and for Sierra Vista, Dee was truly one of those extraordinary individuals.
Affectionately known as “Sierra Vista’s Little Elf,” Dee dedicated nearly 50 years to serving others, supporting local charities, mentoring young people, and making Cochise County a better place.
Dee moved to Sierra Vista in 1976 with her husband and seven children. She taught Spanish and physical education at Sierra Vista Middle School and continued substitute teaching throughout the area after retirement.
She helped establish youth soccer in Sierra Vista, coached soccer and basketball, and devoted countless hours to helping children succeed.
But her generosity extended far beyond the classroom and athletic fields.
Well into her 90s, Dee continued traveling throughout Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Benson, and surrounding communities, raising donations and supporting charitable organizations.
Her efforts benefited Relay for Life, Project Graduation, the Alzheimer’s Association, San Pedro Kiwanis, CASA for Kids, Noah’s Ark Pet Rescue, and numerous other organizations.
She also helped raise funds, wrap, and deliver countless Christmas gifts through Just Kids, Inc.’s Stocking Stuffers program. Remarkably, she continued donating blood to the American Red Cross until age 90.
Her dedication earned numerous community honors, including four awards from the City of Sierra Vista recognizing her exceptional volunteerism.
Dee passed away on August 20 at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and selfless service that will never be forgotten.

The community is invited to come together to share memories, honor Dee’s remarkable life, and support the charitable causes she loved.

AN ALLIGATOR IN THE DESERT⁉️
This picture was supposedly taken by someone Tuesday late afternoon on Frontier Road in Elfrida Arizona. The pic was then posted in the Eldrida News Facebook page by Shelly Sherwin. A call to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff was also made in which we do have the voice call. We are unsure what happened after the call was made however or if this was just a big joke.
Alligators are not known to naturally wash down Arizona washes during heavy rains because alligators are not native to Arizona.
Alligators require humid, water-rich environments like the swamps and bayous of the southeastern United States. Arizona's arid desert climate and temporary "washes" (arroyos)—which stay dry for most of the year and only flood rapidly during massive storms—cannot sustain a native alligator population.
The belief that this has happened usually stems from a few specific things:
1. The Famous "Grand Canyon Alligator" (Clem)
The most prominent real-world story of a "desert gator" involves an alligator named Clem. In 1986, a rancher was given a 16-inch baby alligator as a gift and released it into man-made livestock ponds at Pakoon Springs in northwestern Arizona. Clem surprisingly survived for nearly two decades by eating frogs, minnows, and rabbits. When the property was sold in 2005, the Phoenix Herpetological Society captured the heavily malnourished, 400-pound alligator and moved him to a sanctuary. While he lived in Arizona, he did not wash down a desert storm wash.
2. Escaped or Dumped Exotic Pets
On very rare occasions, Arizona wildlife officials have captured small alligators in residential areas. For example, a two-foot alligator was once found sitting under a running lawn sprinkler in a Phoenix front yard. These are always cases of people keeping illegal exotic pets and either losing them or intentionally releasing them when they get too large or aggressive.

According to application documents it could ultimately grow into a 6-gigawatt data center campus on approximately 747 acres along U.S. Highway 191. This would be the largest of its kind in Arizona.
The proposed campus would include nine computing buildings, each approximately 493,000 square feet, along with electrical infrastructure, cooling and battery yards, and an operations building.
Construction could employ approximately 5,500 workers at its peak. Once fully built, the project is estimated to support approximately 1,000 permanent operations, security, maintenance and contractor positions.
The proposal also describes approximately $3.6 BILLION in applicant-funded transmission and substation improvements in Cochise County through an electric energy services agreement involving the applicant, SSVEC and AEPCO.
According to the application, the facility would use dry cooling with no cooling towers. Estimated water consumption at full build-out is approximately 7 to 10 acre-feet annually, which the application compares to the water use of roughly 20 to 30 Arizona homes.
The proposal states that no new groundwater well would be constructed and groundwater would not be used for industrial purposes.
Because of the project’s proximity to the Willcox Playa, the application also outlines measures intended to address wildlife and bird impacts, including bird-safe glazing, shielded lighting, wildlife-friendly fencing, bird flight diverters on certain overhead lines and environmental monitoring.
IMPORTANT: The information regarding the project’s size, construction, water use, employment, infrastructure and environmental measures reflects what is currently proposed in the submitted application. It does not mean every component has received final approval or will ultimately be constructed as proposed.

According to preliminary reports, at least three vehicles are involved in the collision, with one vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

‼️ADDITIONAL FELONY SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE FILED AGAINST ARIZONA DPS TROOPER IN COCHISE COUNTY‼️
COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. (November 4, 2026) — An Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper arrested following an incident on Sunday, November 1, is now facing an additional felony charge after investigators submitted further evidence for prosecutorial review.
According to an update released by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, November 3, 35-year-old Aiden Rosebeck has been charged with Sexual Assault involving a Vulnerable Adult, a Class 2 felony.
Following Rosebeck’s initial arrest, detectives continued their investigation and submitted additional evidence to the Cochise County Attorney’s Office. After reviewing the evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident, the additional charge was filed.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rosebeck was in the process of being released from custody on November 3 after posting bond on his original charge.
The original bond was set at $10,000, with a 10% secured payment requirement, meaning Rosebeck paid $1,000 to secure his release.
As he was being released, the additional felony sexual assault charge was filed.
During his initial appearance on the new charge, Rosebeck was released on both the original charge and the additional Class 2 felony charge under the same bond amount, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels publicly expressed frustration with the court’s decision, raising concerns about the bond amount in relation to the seriousness of the allegations.
“When such a low bond threshold is set with the actual secured payment of only $1000, this is a failure of the court,” Dannels stated.
The sheriff also acknowledged the independent role of the judicial system while emphasizing his department’s responsibility to investigate allegations thoroughly and pursue accountability regardless of an individual’s position or profession.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff says it will continue working with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office as the case moves through the criminal justice system.
Investigators have indicated that additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about this case, or anyone who believes they may have experienced suspected wrongdoing involving Rosebeck, to contact the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office at 520-432-9500.
IMPORTANT: All charges are allegations. Rosebeck is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

CoolFM has received the below notice from Tombstone Resources regarding tonight's meeting pertaining to the proposed SpaceX data center next to the Apache Generating Station in Cochise.
Here is the notice:
SpaceX will host a community town hall on Wednesday, November 4, at 6:00 p.m. at Cochise Elementary School to share information about the proposed supercompute project in Cochise County, answer questions, and hear directly from local residents.
Because seating capacity is limited, priority for attendance will be given to residents living closest to the proposed project site, followed by other Cochise County residents.
We recognize the significant community interest in this project and are committed to making the discussion as accessible as possible to the local community, prioritizing opportunities for the residents nearest the project to participate. Our goal is to ensure those most directly impacted have an opportunity to be heard and engaged in the conversation.

🎓 THREE SIERRA VISTA SCHOOLS EARN TOP “A” RATINGS — DISTRICT CELEBRATES ACADEMIC SUCCESS!
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — There’s plenty to celebrate in Sierra Vista classrooms! The Sierra Vista Unified School District (SVUSD) is recognizing some exciting academic achievements following the release of Arizona’s 2025–2026 school letter grades.
Three of the district’s five current schools earned an “A” rating, including two schools that improved their grades from the previous year!
🏆 A-RATED SCHOOLS:
* Buena High School — A ⬆️ Improved
* Pueblo del Sol Neighborhood School — A ⬆️ Improved
* Huachuca Mountain Neighborhood School — A Maintained
The district’s other current schools received the following ratings:
* Town & Country Neighborhood School — B
* Carmichael Neighborhood School — C
The results represent an encouraging milestone for the district, reflecting the dedication of students, educators, school staff, and families working together to support academic success.
💬 “We have so much to celebrate across Sierra Vista Unified School District,” said Superintendent Terri Romo.
Romo praised Buena High School and Pueblo del Sol for advancing to A ratings, while recognizing Huachuca Mountain for maintaining its A. She emphasized that these accomplishments reflect the hard work and commitment of the entire school community.
A LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arizona’s school letter grades are based on several measures, including student achievement, academic growth, and other indicators of school performance.
District officials also emphasized that while these ratings are important, they represent just one measure of success. The relationships, learning experiences, and opportunities students receive every day are equally important.
As part of the district’s recent consolidation, three former campuses also received final ratings: Village Meadows earned a B, Joyce Clark Middle School received a C, and Bella Vista received a D.
Sierra Vista Unified School District #68 says it remains committed to improving academic performance, supporting teachers, strengthening family partnerships, and ensuring every student has the resources and opportunities needed to succeed.

VAIL, AZ — Wednesday, November 4, 2026 — Motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near Vail are experiencing significant traffic backups following a reported crash early this morning.
According to traffic incident information, the crash was reported at approximately 5:10 a.m. near East Vail Road at mile marker 279.
The incident is reportedly blocking the right westbound lane. Traffic is currently backed up across both westbound lanes as vehicles approach the affected area.
⚠️ DRIVERS SHOULD EXPECT DELAYS
Motorists traveling westbound toward Tucson should reduce speed, remain alert for stopped or slowing vehicles, and allow additional travel time.
The extent of any injuries has not been confirmed, and there is currently no estimated time for the affected lane to reopen.
