Willcox 2A State Softball Champions Show at R&R Pizza Willcox AZ!
This team ranked #5 began the playoffs were only the favorite in their first game against Santa Cruz Valley. The next round, they disposed of #4 Kingman Academy with the game in Kingman. In game three, they beat #1 Heritage Academy Laveen at Papago Park. That set them up with a finals matchup against #2 Mohave Accelerated at Grand Canyon University in a battle of pitching greats. The Cowgirls fought back and won 5-3 to claim the 2A Title.
We’ll ask the players what were the moments that stood out and now that the championship has settled in their memories how does this young team stay on top heading into next season and beyond.
Trevor Ward, the head coach will detail on how this team progressed from the beginning of the season to the final out as Champions. We’ll also ask him what moment did he feel this team had what it took to become the best in the State.
R&R Pizza is our home away from home when we have Willcox teams on the Show. ⚖️ COMMUNITY MEMBERS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND TUESDAY COURT HEARING IN BISBEE⚖️
A Sierra Vista family is encouraging community members to attend a scheduled court hearing on Tuesday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. involving Paul Correa at the Cochise County Courthouse.
According to a public statement released by Stacey Greer, the family has been informed that Correa intends to accept a plea agreement that would reportedly dismiss charges of public sexual indecency and harassment by surveillance involving a minor in exchange for a guilty plea to tampering with evidence.
In the statement, the family expressed disappointment with the reported plea agreement outcome and is asking the community to peacefully and respectfully attend the hearing in support of victims, children, and accountability within the community.
“Our daughter was brave enough to speak up,” the statement reads. “We are asking our community to be just as brave in standing beside victims, supporting children, and showing that Sierra Vista will not look the other way.”
The family emphasized that they understand plea agreements are part of the legal process, but believe community presence and support remain important when cases involving children and positions of public trust arise.
Correa was charged with public sexual indecency after being accused of filming a minor in a Sierra Vista Target store and then watching the video in the parking lot with his “pants disheveled.”
The SVPD responded to a call of disorderly conduct when the father of that minor approached Correa while he was sitting in his car.
The officer noted that as he went to speak with Correa, he “immediately started to manipulate the waistband of his pants.”
The hearing is scheduled for:

Each Monday morning I've shared thoughts here to try and inspire those who may need it. This morning, the 18th of May, one week before Memorial Day (25th of May), it feels right to acknowledge those who've served - and since passed, setting the stage to embrace the 25th well nourished, perspectives sharpened, and eyes perhaps reopened.
Remember, for many, Memorial Day isn't just a single day each year, but an eternal echo in their hearts, never stopping no matter the time of year.
For those wondering what they might do that honors the sacrifice of the fallen, below is a list that won't take you far from the priorities of your lives but still leaves refreshed perspectives in their wake.
Not everyone can attend ceremonies, place giant wreaths, or deliver speeches. But almost everyone can pause long enough to acknowledge the ultimate price paid by those who've served.

Visit a veteran’s memorial, cemetery, or flag display — and simply stand there for a few minutes without rushing off to the next thing.
Learn the name of one fallen service member from your hometown and read about their life, not just their death.
Call or visit an older veteran who may not hear from many people anymore.
Watch the sunrise or sunset in silence and think about the generations who never got to grow old enough to enjoy those simple moments.
Teach a child the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Attend a Memorial Day ceremony, even briefly. Presence matters.
Put the phone down during “Taps” if you hear it played.
Share a photograph or memory of someone who served — not for likes, but because memories fade when nobody speaks their names anymore.

Spend one day complaining a little less about inconveniences. Perspective can be its own form of gratitude.
If you're a veteran yourself, tell a story of those you've served with — not necessarily the dramatic ones. Sometimes those small anecdotes pack the greatest punch.
And maybe the simplest one of all - at 3:00 PM on Memorial Day, pause for one minute during the National Moment of Remembrance.

Because most of those being honored would've probably preferred a sincere quiet moment over a thousand noisy slogans anyway.
Please don't forget that, though next Monday is the official day of remembrance, there are another 364 days each year their names will continue to echo in the hearts and the memories of more than a million living souls.
Every day, for them, is Memorial Day.

Press release from the Tombstone Marshal’s Office on May 17, 2026:
“The Tombstone Marshal’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a female suspect involved in a theft at the Family Dollar store in Tombstone.
On 5/17/26, an unknown female entered the Family Dollar store and exited carrying a satchel containing unpaid merchandise. The suspect then left the area in an older-model dark blue pickup truck driven by an unidentified male.
The female suspect is described as: white female with dark hair, pulled back into a ponytail. She was wearing a black low cut tank top. She also mentioned that she had recently moved to Tombstone.
The vehicle was last seen leaving the area shortly after the incident. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who may have information regarding the identities of the individuals involved to contact the Tombstone Marshal’s Office.”

A local father is asking for the community’s support after recently receiving devastating news.
Chris, a 50-year-old single dad, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer. According to Chris, doctors discovered masses throughout his neck and stomach, and he will soon begin chemotherapy treatments that are expected to make it extremely difficult for him to continue working during the months ahead.
Chris says the emotional toll has already been overwhelming as he faces the uncertainty of treatment, financial hardship, and the fear that comes with such a life-changing diagnosis.
“I’m definitely scared and depression is hitting hard. This is really hard for me to ask for help like this, but I don’t have much for a support system.”
With chemotherapy expected to leave him unable to work for extended periods of time, Chris says he is now worried about how he will pay bills, buy food, and continue supporting himself while going through treatment. He also shared that many members of his family have previously lost battles with cancer, making this journey even more emotional and difficult.
Any donations, prayers, shares, or words of encouragement would mean the world to Chris as he begins this difficult fight. Every bit of support can help lessen the stress and allow him to focus on healing and recovery during the challenging road ahead.
