SOUTHEASTERN ARIZONA DUI TASK FORCE REPORTS 10 ARRESTS DURING SATURATION DETAIL‼️
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — The Southeastern Arizona DUI Task Force conducted a saturation detail in the Sierra Vista area during the Labor Day holiday weekend with support from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
Officers from the Sierra Vista Police Department, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Police Department, Huachuca City Police Department and Bisbee Police Department participated in the operation, which focused on deterring impaired driving and enforcing DUI laws.
According to SVPD, the detail resulted in 58 traffic contacts, six civil traffic citations and 10 arrests, including four alcohol-related DUI arrests, one underage DUI arrest, one underage consumption arrest, one arrest for providing alcohol to a minor and one reckless driving arrest. The remaining enforcement figures reported were citations rather than arrests.
Among those arrested for DUI, the average reported blood alcohol concentration was .220, with BAC levels ranging from .178 to .282.
During one traffic stop, officers reported finding a 20-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger impaired by alcohol. The subsequent investigation led to an employee of a Sierra Vista bar being cited for allegedly furnishing alcohol to an underage person.
SVPD and its partner agencies also thanked Vinny's New York Pizza for providing food to Task Force members before the detail.

UPDATE: Cochise County Sheriff's Office Charges 37-Year-Old Willcox Woman with DUI
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, a 37-year-old Willcox woman collided with a stopped school bus on N Fort Grant Rd & N Ingram Rd. The bus was occupied by several children at the time of the collision.
The investigation determined the female was impaired while operating the vehicle and was transported to Northern Cochise Community Hospital before being transferred to a Tucson hospital for further evaluation. The woman was ultimately cited and released on the DUI charge, Reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
The initial investigation indicates that a school bus was stopped near the intersection with its emergency lights activated and the stop sign extended, warning approaching vehicles to stop. The woman failed to stop and ultimately collided with the rear driver's side of the bus.
The children inside the school bus were mostly uninjured, and a few students were evaluated by medical personnel on scene after complaining of minor headaches and dizziness.
The children were ultimately determined to be okay and were released to their parents.
The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, and our appreciation goes out to the Willcox Police Department for arriving first on scene and assisting along with the Willcox Fire Department.
