🚨 Late-Night Chaos: Shooting & Stabbing Reported in Sierra Vista 🚨
A late-night disturbance turned dangerous the evening of Thursday March, 19, 2026, leaving one man injured and two others behind bars.
At approximately 9:50 p.m., a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and screaming in the 100 block of Fab Avenue. Officers with the Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS quickly responded and uncovered a chaotic scene stemming from a heated altercation in a business parking lot.
Investigators say what began as a verbal argument escalated into a physical fight, ultimately leading to violence involving both a weapon and a firearm. One individual suffered a laceration to the arm, while another fired at least one round from a handgun, causing the group to scatter.
Authorities say the situation didn’t end there:
- The injured individual and the suspect who fired the gun fled the scene in a silver Nissan sedan
- The suspect responsible for the stabbing injury initially fled on foot
- The vehicle was later located at a gas station in the 3900 block of Fry Blvd
- The suspect who fled on foot eventually returned to the original scene
ARRESTS MADE:
• Wortham was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and was arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail. (Name under respective photo)
• Watson was arrested and booked on Assault charges (Name under respective photo)
• The injured individual was not charged

SIERRA VISTA 911 🚨 Shooting/Stabbing Investigation
Around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, multiple callers reported a shooting at the Roadway Inn located at 100 S. Fab Ave. The actual shooting occurred in the southwest corner of the parking lot at J’s Kitchen in Sierra Vista.
Witnesses reported seeing four individuals fleeing the area in a silver sedan, possibly transporting a person who had been either stabbed or shot. The vehicle was later located by police near Valero and Discount Tire in Sierra Vista, where law enforcement conducted a high risk stop.
Officers ordered the occupants out of the vehicle at gunpoint and detained them without further incident. One individual was found to have a stab wound, which had already been bandaged prior to police contact.
Conflicting accounts from witnesses and those involved have prolonged the investigation, as interviews were being conducted well after 11:30 p.m. Additional details will be provided as they become available.

🚨 MAJOR DEVELOPMENT: Person of Interest Arrested in March 9 Shooting Investigation 🚨
Sierra Vista Police, Fire, and EMS have confirmed that the individual previously identified as a person of interest, Jay Lee Price, has been arrested as of March 19, 2026 in connection to the investigation. He was found staying at the Knights Inn (1551 E Fry Blvd) in Sierra Vista, AZ.
OFFICIAL SVPD PRESS RELEASE:
“Police arrest suspect in March 9 shooting incident
The Sierra Vista Police Department, with the assistance of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Jay Lee Price today for his involvement in the March 9 shooting on Busby Drive.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9, SVPD officers and detectives responded to the corner of Busby Drive and Sulger Street for a shots fired incident. During the investigation, they discovered information that led them to a vehicle parked on the 900 block of Fry Boulevard. The vehicle was seized, and the owner was identified and interviewed.
The follow-up investigation led to three separate search warrants culminating in the arrest of Price on the 1500 block of Fry Boulevard around 8:45 a.m. on March 19. Officers confronted Price as he exited a hotel room wearing a mask, which made him look like another individual at first glance. Price initially resisted but was quickly taken into custody after the use of a less lethal tool employed by officers of the Cochise County Regional Tactical Team.
Price was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center, where he was treated and released. He was booked into the Cochise County Jail on a $250,000 bond for aggravated assault, weapons misconduct, and endangerment.
This is an ongoing investigation. Individuals who have information regarding the shooting are asked to contact Sierra Vista Police Department Detective Thomas Ransford at (520) 452-7500 or Thomas.Ransford@SierraVistaAZ.gov.”
