A performance by Toru Tagawa, SVSA Artistic Director, on violin and Dr. Fanya Lin, University of Arizona Associate Professor, on piano.
This indoor event is scheduled to last about 2 to 2.5 hours with an intermission.

SIERRA VISTA, AZ — Huachuca Mountain Elementary School has earned one of the highest honors in Arizona public education, being named an A+ School of Excellence Award® recipient for the 2026–2030 cycle by the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF).
The A+ designation is the top state-level recognition awarded to public schools and highlights campuses that excel in student achievement, innovation, leadership, and community partnership.
This milestone marks a proud moment for Sierra Vista Unified School District, as Huachuca Mountain becomes the second SVUSD school to receive the honor. Village Meadows Elementary earned the distinction in 2025, underscoring the district’s continued commitment to educational excellence.
The A+ recognition process is rigorous, including a detailed application, interviews, and an on-site evaluation by experienced educators. Schools selected demonstrate:
• Strong, collaborative leadership
• High-quality, engaging instruction
• Rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
• Active parent and community involvement
• A safe, nurturing, student-centered environment
“Earning an A+ designation is a testament to a school community’s unwavering commitment to students,” said Brett Bonner, AEF’s Director of Professional Development and Dean of the AEF Academy.
SVUSD Superintendent Terri Romo praised the achievement, calling it a reflection of the dedication shown daily by staff, students, families, and community partners.
“Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged students have created a culture where excellence thrives and every child is empowered to succeed,” Romo said. “We are proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our community for being an essential part of the Lightning Bolts family.”
Huachuca Mountain Elementary was one of just 48 schools statewide selected for the 2026–2030 recognition period.
The district plans to host a community-wide celebration in the coming weeks, with event details to be announced soon.

The Sierra Vista Police Department is celebrating a tremendous show of partnership and support from our colleagues at the Yuma Police Department — who have generously donated a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to strengthen Sierra Vista’s Motor Unit!
This incredible addition will allow our motor officer to increase high-visibility patrols throughout the community, connect more directly with residents, and continue promoting safe driving behaviors across our city. Visibility matters — and so does engagement. This motorcycle will enhance both.
Officer Cuevas and Lieutenant Dannels recently traveled to Yuma to pick up the bike. It will now be properly outfitted for Sierra Vista’s agency needs, and soon you’ll see Officer Cuevas proudly patrolling our streets.
This is more than just a motorcycle — it’s a symbol of interagency cooperation and shared commitment to public safety across Arizona communities. Partnerships like this strengthen our ability to serve and protect.

🏀🏅Sierra Vista Special Olympics Teams Shine in Tucson — State Up Next! 🏅🏀
There’s something truly special happening in Sierra Vista — and it’s wearing Coyote and Roadrunner jerseys.
On Saturday, February 14, 2026, our Sierra Vista Special Olympics basketball program competed at the area tournament at the Sporting Chance Center in Tucson — and what a day it was!
The Coyotes took the court at 10:00 AM, followed by the Roadrunners at 1:00 PM — and both teams gave it everything they had.
The Coyotes earned 4th place, an incredible accomplishment considering this was their first time playing together as a team. What a powerful start for this group!
The Roadrunners brought home the Silver Medal, finishing 2nd place and showcasing outstanding teamwork, focus, and determination.
More important than the medals, both teams demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, unity, and pride. They represented Sierra Vista with heart — and our community couldn’t be prouder.
🏀 Next Stop: State Competition!
The teams will travel to the Valley on the afternoon of March 5th to compete March 6th and 7th at:

IT PASSED‼️The town of Tombstone, Arizona council has officially voted to host the "Live To Ride" motorcycle event, marking a monumental undertaking poised to be the largest of its kind in the town's history. The event's promoters, who have previously hosted "The Prowl" in Bisbee, have partnered with the town to bring this new event to Tombstone in October of this year. A specific date weekend will be announced soon on Coolfmlive. According to organizers Matt and Cassandra Romero, the 2026 Prowl event in Bisbee has been put on hold, and they are focusing their efforts on the new Tombstone rally. The Romero's stated, "We may revive The Prowl next year, but we needed a break from Bisbee, and the Tombstone events committee approached us with a more welcoming and appreciative attitude than we've ever experienced elsewhere." The organizers aim to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all riders, with a dedicated section of historical and new bikes for everyone. The motorbikes will not be on Allen street but on the side streets for the bike shows and at Discover Tombstone Field.
They also plan to feature The Wall of Death performance show, as well as other new attractions to be announced.
