WILLCOX, Ariz. — 66-year-old John Alan Oberreuter of Willcox has been identified as the Rex Allen Days Inc. board member arrested in connection with an investigation into the suspected embezzlement of approximately $48,000 from the organization.
According to a press release issued by the Willcox Police Department, the investigation began after an internal financial audit conducted by the Rex Allen Days Inc. board uncovered several financial anomalies, including missing funds. Board members then reported their concerns to law enforcement.
Police said detectives determined during the initial stages of the investigation that approximately $48,000 was missing from organizational accounts. The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed before detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence.
According to police, evidence related to the suspected embezzlement was located during the search.
Investigators also reportedly uncovered information suggesting there may be additional victims. Police are working to identify those individuals and determine the extent of any potentially related crimes.
Willcox Police Chief Hadfield stated:
“Our department remains committed to supporting Rex Allen Days Inc. and their long-standing mission of providing a safe and enjoyable event for all residents each year. We take allegations of financial wrongdoing very seriously, especially when they affect community organizations that play such an important role in Willcox. We will continue working diligently to ensure a thorough and fair investigation.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.

🚨HEARTBREAKING UPDATE: MISSING MAN FOUND DECEASED NEAR WILLCOX🚨
WILLCOX, Ariz. — An unfortunate update has been shared in the search for Danny Catano, who had been reported missing from the Willcox area.
According to an update released at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, Mr. Catano was located approximately 15 miles northwest of Willcox, west of Highway 191, in a ranching area.
Sadly, Mr. Catano was pronounced deceased.
His family has been notified, and his body was transported to Westlawn Mortuary.
The original call for assistance had asked community members to remain on the lookout for Danny and contact authorities with any information regarding his whereabouts.
Our thoughts are with Danny Catano’s family, friends and loved ones as they receive this heartbreaking news.
We also extend our appreciation to the law enforcement personnel, searchers and community members who helped share information and assisted during the effort to locate him.
Please keep Danny’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

🚨 FORT HUACHUCA SLASH PILE BURNING CONTINUES IN TINKER CANYON
FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. — Fort Huachuca, in coordination with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, will continue slash pile burning in Tinker Canyon on the installation’s south range near the perimeter fence.
🔥 Burn Schedule:
• Wednesday, August 26, beginning at 8 a.m.
• Thursday, August 27, beginning at 8 a.m.
• Operations are dependent on weather conditions.
Residents in Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista and surrounding areas may see smoke throughout much of the day. Officials anticipate minimal smoke impacts to Fort Huachuca and Sierra Vista.
According to Fort Huachuca, no power lines or structures are threatened by the planned burning operations.
Slash pile burning is expected to continue throughout August as conditions allow, with weekly notifications provided regarding upcoming operations.
The public should be aware that visible smoke in the Tinker Canyon area is associated with these planned burns.

COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — The heat will remain a major part of the forecast over the next several days as strong high pressure continues to influence Southern Arizona.
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday, with daytime temperatures ranging from around 102 degrees in the hottest locations to near 71 degrees in the higher elevations. Overnight lows will begin around 71 degrees, gradually cooling to near 66 degrees by the weekend.
There is some encouraging news heading into the weekend. Moisture is expected to begin returning to the region, which could bring an increase in clouds and renewed opportunities for showers and thunderstorms.
☀️ WHAT TO KNOW
• Extreme heat remains the primary concern through Saturday
• High pressure will keep temperatures elevated
• Moisture begins returning by the weekend
• Increasing storm chances may accompany that moisture
During periods of extreme heat, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated and never leave children or pets unattended inside a vehicle.

LEXI B'S LAST DAY IS OCTOBER 4TH‼️
The owner of Lexi B's restaurant in Huachuca City AZ told Coolfmlive that their nearly year long run is coming to an end in the first week of October. The owner stated it was difficult coming in to take over from an existing restaurant that had been a part of the community for 30 years. They will be moving on to another project we will tell you more about in the near future.
Lexi B's Café in Huachuca City opened in late 2025, taking over the location previously occupied by Sunny's Café (also referred to as Sunny D Delight).
The current owners thank the area residents that supported them and are looking forward to their next chapter with a new direction.
