💜 TURNING PERSONAL EXPERIENCE INTO A MISSION FOR A SEIZURE-SAFER COMMUNITY 💜
For Sierra Vista resident Kayley, Purple Heroes Family began with something deeply personal.
Kayley has lived with epilepsy since she was 17. Then, on her daughter’s second birthday, her daughter experienced her first seizure.
Those experiences showed Kayley just how frightening a seizure can be — not only for the person experiencing it, but for family members, caregivers and bystanders who want to help but may not know what to do.
That became the foundation for Purple Heroes Family (PHF), a Sierra Vista-based initiative focused on seizure-safety education, preparedness, advocacy and community support.
Kayley has developed the PURPLE Method™, a simple seizure-response framework, and is developing the Seizure-Safe SmartPak™, designed to keep important seizure information and response resources organized and accessible.
PHF is also working to educate local businesses and organizations so more people throughout our community are prepared to respond appropriately and compassionately when a seizure occurs.
On December 11, PHF will hold its founding fundraiser with the goal of securing sponsorships for 150 Seizure-Safe SmartPaks™ to help get these resources into the hands of individuals and families who need them.
What started with one family’s experience is growing into a mission to make an entire community better prepared.

‼️TEEN ARRESTED IN COCHISE COUNTY AS PART OF LOUISIANA SWATTING INVESTIGATION‼️
HEREFORD, Ariz. — A 15-year-old juvenile in Cochise County has been arrested following an investigation involving alleged “swatting” incidents in Louisiana.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, detectives and crime scene personnel served a search warrant at a Hereford residence on Tuesday, September 15. The juvenile was taken into custody and faces charges of Making Terroristic Threats, a Class 3 felony, and False Reporting, a Class 6 felony.
The investigation remains ongoing in coordination with law enforcement agencies in Louisiana.
The following release from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is quoted in its entirety:
“Cochise County Sheriff’s Office Assists in Louisiana Terrorism Investigation
On August 20, 2026, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a Louisiana law enforcement agency regarding a terroristic threat they had in their jurisdiction, specifically related to a Swatting call at an elementary school.
(Swatting is a dangerous criminal act where someone makes a false 911 call to report a fake, high-risk emergency—such as an active shooter or bomb threat—with the goal of tricking police into sending a tactical SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team to an innocent person’s home or school.)
The initial information indicated that there was contact made with a 13-year-old male in the incident that occurred in Louisiana, which led to information developed for an additional potential suspect in Cochise County.
The Louisiana law enforcement agency advised that there was a second swatting call at a residence in another jurisdiction, with the investigation also leading to the same additional suspect in Cochise County.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the suspect’s address in Hereford to serve a search warrant.
Contact was made with the parents of a 15-year-old male subject who had been identified as a second suspect in both cases, and items of evidence were seized. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Making Terroristic Threats (class 3 felony) and False Reporting (class 6 felony).
The investigation is being continued jointly by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office - Mark J. Dannels Sheriff and Louisiana law enforcement agencies.”

‼️FATAL ROLLOVER ON I-10 NEAR WILLCOX‼️
WILLCOX, Ariz. — A tragic single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 10 near Willcox claimed one life and left another person injured during the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 16.
Willcox Fire-Rescue R331 was dispatched to eastbound I-10 near milepost 343 for a reported rollover involving two occupants.
Sadly, one occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second occupant was transported by ambulance to Mount Graham Regional Medical Center for further medical care.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life, as well as the injured occupant and everyone affected by this tragic accident.

‼️ JUVENILES ARRESTED IN DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD VANDALISM CASE ‼️
DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The Douglas Police Department has announced three arrests in connection with the vandalism reported at the Douglas High School football field earlier this month.
According to a media release from Douglas Police Department, detectives arrested three juveniles on September 15, 2026, in connection with the criminal damage incident that was reported on September 2.
Police identified the suspects as three juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 16. All three are from Bisbee, Arizona.
Each juvenile was charged with:
• Aggravated Criminal Damage
• Trespassing in the Second Degree
According to Douglas Police, incarceration was declined for all three juveniles. Juvenile referrals were forwarded to juvenile court, and all three were released to their legal guardians.
The arrests come nearly two weeks after damage was discovered at the Douglas High School football field ahead of the historic Bisbee–Douglas Pick football game.
CoolFMLive originally reported on the vandalism as authorities began investigating the incident. At that time, no suspects had been publicly identified.
This remains a juvenile court matter. CoolFMLive will continue to provide updates if additional information is released by authorities.

💔 REMEMBERING ETHAN GIRDNER- FOREVER A COLT
The Sierra Vista and Buena High School communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ethan Girdner, a former Buena High School student and soccer player who later moved to Oklahoma.
Ethan tragically lost his life in a vehicle accident. Additional details surrounding the accident have not yet been released, and today, the focus is on remembering the young man Ethan was, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind.
For those who knew Ethan through Buena Boys Soccer, he was far more than a talented athlete. He was a teammate, a friend, a son, and a young man remembered for his smile, character and passion.
Ethan will forever hold a special place in Buena soccer history. As a freshman, he helped the Buena Boys Soccer team capture its first-ever Region Championship.
That championship will forever be part of Buena’s history — and so will Ethan.
Those who shared the field with him remember someone who played with passion and heart and led through his actions. But the memories that matter most go far beyond wins and championships.
They are the practices, bus rides and long evenings at the soccer field. The laughter between teammates. The encouragement after a difficult play. The friendships built along the way and the countless ordinary moments that become priceless when someone is gone.
Although Ethan’s journey eventually took him from Sierra Vista to Oklahoma, the friendships and memories he made here remained part of his story.
His loss is being felt by family, friends, former classmates, teammates, coaches and soccer families both here in Arizona and in Oklahoma.
There are simply no words that can make the loss of a young life easier.
Please keep Ethan’s family, friends, teammates, coaches and everyone who loved him in your thoughts during the incredibly difficult days ahead.
