From the rugged trails of Superior, Arizona all the way down through Tucson and finishing in Patagonia, Arizona… one of our own is pushing the limits of human endurance—and making our community proud every step of the way.
John Clark, Captain with the Fry Fire Department, is currently competing in the grueling Arizona Monster 300—a 304-mile point-to-point ultramarathon that kicked off Friday, March 27th at noon.
Runners have until Friday, April 3rd 2026, at 2 PM to finish this incredible journey.
And here’s the latest:
- John is currently in the TOP 30
- He has already conquered mile 262
That’s right—262 miles DOWN!
If you’ve spent any time in Sierra Vista, chances are you’ve seen John out grinding in the early morning hours (often in his legendary duck shorts 🦆), running alongside his loyal dogs Scout & Ellie. This isn’t new for him—it’s who he is.
John previously completed the Moab 240 in Moab, Utah back in October 2022—another brutal endurance race that only a select few can finish.
Last year, he even volunteered as a medic for the Arizona Monster 300, earning himself a free entry into a Destination Trail race… and he chose THIS one.
And now? He’s out there living it.
From serving our community as a firefighter to taking on one of the toughest races in the country, John Clark is the definition of dedication, resilience, and heart.

Investigators have made significant progress in the ongoing homicide case that occurred on March 31, 2026. One suspect has been taken into custody and is being charged with multiple felony offenses, including accessory to commit murder in the first degree and accessory to commit attempted murder in the first degree.
The suspect was identified through a combination of onscene evidence analysis, interviews with witnesses, and methodical police work. During the initial stages of the interview, the suspect denied any involvement. However, after being presented with the collective evidence, the suspect admitted to providing a firearm to the primary individual involved in the offense.
The suspect is being booked into the Cochise County Jail pending further legal proceedings. The investigation remains active, and additional updates will be provided as they become available. The shooting suspect is still at large.**

🚨 BREAKING – SHOOTING IN WILLCOX AZ 🚨
Reports are coming in of a shooting incident on the 500 block of Curtis Ave in Willcox, AZ.(Behind the Circle-K on Haskell St.) around 9:30pm Tuesday March 31st.
According to early, unconfirmed information people in the neighborhood heard up to 10 shots fired. One individual is believed deceased and another was reportedly transported by helicopter to Tucson for emergency medical care. The suspect has not been apprehended as of 6am but the Regional SWAT Unit has been deployed to Willcox. This incident involved 3 people we are told. A search helicopter was being used throughout much of the night as well.
Willcox Police, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and AZDPS is on scene along with help from area departments including Benson and Sierra Vista PD. At this time, officials have not released, confirmed details, names, or the circumstances surrounding what happened.

🚨 Sierra Vista Police Investigating Sudden Death Following Bicycle Incident 🚨
A Sierra Vista man lost his life Monday night following a bicycle incident on West Fry Boulevard.
Around 9:40 p.m., a 911 caller reported a man lying on the ground in the 100 block of West Fry Boulevard. When officers arrived, they discovered 56-year-old Jeffrey Brenner unresponsive and without a pulse.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and rushed him to the hospital. Despite those efforts, Brenner was later pronounced deceased.
Sierra Vista Police investigators reviewed video footage from earlier that evening. Around 9:00 p.m., Brenner was seen riding along North Avenue when he appeared to attempt to move from the roadway onto the sidewalk to enter a business parking lot. During that maneuver, he struck the curb and fell. Authorities confirmed no other vehicles or individuals were involved.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
