🚛♻️ Cochise County Updates “Free Dump Day” Program — Here’s What You Need to Know ♻️🚛
Big changes are coming to Cochise County’s Free Dump Day Program, with a new, more streamlined application process aimed at saving taxpayer dollars and improving efficiency.
Beginning July 1 through September 30, property owners can apply online through the County website (or submit by mail before the deadline).
⚠️ Major Change:
- Certificates will NO LONGER be mailed
- Instead, approved certificates will be tied directly to the transfer station you select on your application
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible, your property must:
• Be located in Cochise County
• Have a Cochise County mailing address
• Be classified as residential (owner-occupied, rental, or historical)
• Be no more than 3 years behind on property taxes
✔️ Up to 10 applications per owner (one per parcel/address)
What You Get:
Each approved certificate covers:
• One load (pickup, trailer, or passenger vehicle)
• Up to 1,000 lbs (½ ton)
• Valid anytime during the calendar year
• Must be used at your selected location
Going over weight? Additional charges apply at standard rates
- Rural sites: up to $32 off total load cost
- Tire disposal (over 5 tires): must use Western Regional Landfill
Don’t forget: Photo ID is required at the site
Important Reminders:
• You’ll be notified of approval by email or phone
• No mailed certificates — everything is handled digitally/on-site

The road to Montezuma's Pass isn't straight. Are there any roads at all that brag a perfect line from start to a worthy reward at their end? Maybe in Texas.
But driving these switchbacks in the dark - well before the color came, before there was any guarantee the sky would do what it did, I let Cruz' headlights and faith take each bend.
Then the mountains opened up, and the whole valley fell away below. Still standing in darkness I waited until the sun pressed through forty miles of cloud cover, leaving evidence of a choice well made - exhibit A, if it please the court.
If your Mondays feels like darkness before a hopeful dawn, then sip your coffees, start your engines, and take those winding roads until you've arrived at your destinations.
The view from the top of your own hard week is already forming...

National Tartan Day is celebrated on April 6th, commemorating the Declaration of Abroath and Scottish heritage. The Scottish American Military Society, Post 81, is hosting a local celebration at Tombstone Brewing West End in Sierra Vista on April 6th from 5pm-8pm, featuring a bagpiper, dancers, and a fundraising raffle to support veterans causes. 🚨 Traffic Alert: Vehicle Crashes Through Brick Wall on Buffalo Soldier Trail 🚨
Sierra Vista — Emergency crews responded early this morning, April 5, 2026, to a serious single-vehicle accident along Buffalo Soldier Trail.
According to initial reports, a vehicle left the roadway and crashed through a brick wall, causing significant damage in the area.
One patient has been transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center for treatment. The extent of injuries has not yet been released.
The home owner made a statement in comments below:
"It is my property that was damaged and my neighbors. I called 911 at 11:19 and provided medical care for the driver until EMS arrived. Yes, this stinks but I really hope the driver will be ok. Nothing that insurance will (hopefully) take care of. For privacy and protection of the driver, I will not disclose any medical information"
Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area, as emergency personnel may still be on scene and traffic could be impacted.
This is a developing situation. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
⚠️ Reminder: Please avoid the area if possible and allow first responders space to work safely.
