That means less time repeating what you've already learned and a shorter path toward a certificate that can be completed in less than a year.

The Friends of the San Pedro River have a full month of FREE guided walks and outdoor adventures planned for October!

Whether you’re interested in wildlife, butterflies, birds, local history or just spending a morning outdoors, there’s something to check out.

October 2026 Schedule:

🌳 San Pedro River Nature Walks
Saturday, Oct. 3 & 17 | 9 a.m.
Enjoy an easy 1.5–2 mile guided walk along the river, through cottonwood-willow areas and near Green Kingfisher Pond.

🦋 Butterfly Walks
Sunday, Oct. 4 & 18 | 10 a.m.
Explore the San Pedro House xeriscape garden while looking for butterflies and other pollinators.

⛏️ Grand Central Mill History Walk
Saturday, Oct. 10 | 9 a.m.
Take a three-mile round-trip walk to the historic mill ruins and learn about the Tombstone silver boom.

🐦 San Pedro River Bird Walks
Wednesday, Oct. 14 & 28 | 7 a.m.
Explore one of the region’s important bird habitats while looking for some of the hundreds of species that use the San Pedro River corridor.

🏜️ Millville & Petroglyph Discovery Trail
Saturday, Oct. 17 | 9 a.m.
Explore historic silver mill sites and an adjacent Native American rock art site during this approximately two-mile walk.

🦣 Murray Springs History Walk
Saturday, Oct. 24 | 9 a.m.
Visit the Murray Springs Clovis Site and learn about the mammoth fossils, projectile points and other archaeological discoveries made there.

🏰 Presidio Santa Cruz de Terrenate Tour
Saturday, Oct. 31 | 9 a.m.
Finish the month with a three-mile guided tour of the remains of this 1770s Spanish presidio.

Most events are FREE with no reservations required. Participants should bring water, sun protection and appropriate walking shoes based on the activity.

We understand many students, families, and fans were looking forward to the game and appreciate everyone’s understanding.
