Emergency Power Outage Tonight (Saturday, June 27) - Benson Area

A significant storm Thursday night damaged two transmission poles serving the Benson area. Although the poles remain standing, they were badly damaged and need to be repaired. To safely complete those repairs, SSVEC will conduct an emergency power outage beginning at approximately 10:00 p.m. tonight.
Power restoration is expected by approximately 8:00 a.m. Sunday, June 28, although restoration times may vary depending on field conditions.

The outage will affect members in the Pomerene area, generally north of I-10 and east of the San Pedro River. Please refer to the accompanying map to see the affected area. Or, visit the "Outage" page on SSVEC.org.

Since the storm, SSVEC crews have been working to reduce the number of members impacted by this outage by shifting portions of the load to an adjacent feeder. Those efforts have significantly reduced the size of the outage, but repairs to the damaged transmission poles require this emergency, temporary interruption.
“We scheduled this work overnight to minimize the impact on our members during the cooler part of the day,” said Nathan Hodges, Senior Vice President of Operations. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as our crews safely complete these repairs and restore reliable service.”
