PROPOSED SOLAR FIELD EXPANSION, BATTERY STORAGE FACILITY IN WHETSTONE RAISES CONCERNS.
Saturday August 8th at 2 pm dozens of concerned residents attended a community meeting at Quail Ridge RV Park in Whetstone to hear about the Babacomori Ranch solar field expansion including thousands of new solar panels, a 160 megawatt battery energy storage system ( BESS) and concerns it could be turned into a possible data center .
The proposed development expansion is near Chula Vista Estates on the Hwy 82, west of the Hwy 90 intersection and just East of the Mustang Mtns in Whetstone on the +10,000 acre Babacomori Ranch.
Resident concerns include BESS toxic smoke release plus potential fire hazard, mass water consumption from battery storage and possible contamination of the environment, noise pollution, decreased value of nearby homes, property insurance increase or termination due to high risk of development, lack of special emergency response training, lack of transparency by developers.
The project will be discussed at the next County Planning and Zoning meeting on Wednesday August 12 at 4pm in the Board of Supervisors chambers on Melody Lane in Bisbee.
CoolFMLive will continue to follow this developnent

BRIAN MCINTYRE FIRED FROM COCHISE COUNTY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE‼️
COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — Former Cochise County Attorney Brian McIntyre has been terminated from his position as Chief Criminal Deputy with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office, according to reports
McIntyre previously served as Cochise County’s elected county attorney before Lori Zucco took office. Following the change in leadership, Zucco retained McIntyre within the office and appointed him Chief Criminal Deputy, placing him in a senior position handling criminal prosecutions.
According to Terri Jo Neff of Herald Review Media, McIntyre’s departure follows concerns regarding his handling of criminal cases, including reported missed deadlines and questions surrounding his preparation for upcoming trials. Reports are that cases previously assigned to McIntyre are being transferred to other prosecutors.
One case that had recently drawn attention was State v. John J. Daly III. Daly, a former U.S. Border Patrol supervisor, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Bisbee apartment in October 2001. The allegations against Daly remain allegations unless and until proven in court.
The Daly trial had been scheduled to begin Tuesday. County Attorney Lori Zucco informed the court that morning that McIntyre had been hospitalized and was unable to move forward with the proceeding.
Days later, McIntyre was terminated.
Zucco reportedly notified Cochise County Administrator Sharon Gilman of McIntyre’s termination Friday, after which other county officials were informed.
McIntyre’s history with the County Attorney’s Office extends well beyond his most recent position. He previously served multiple terms as Cochise County Attorney. His attempt to seek another term in 2024 ended after a court challenge to his nominating petitions resulted in his removal from the ballot. McIntyre had also faced significant public attention following his January 2023 arrest on an Extreme DUI charge.
His termination comes during a period of heightened public attention surrounding the Cochise County Attorney’s Office and only days after the sentencing of former Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney Paul Correa.
CoolFMLive is continuing to follow this developing story and will provide additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding McIntyre’s termination, the reassignment of his criminal cases, and any statements from McIntyre or the Cochise County Attorney’s Office as they become available.

❤️🐶 MEET SISCO — THIS HAPPY BOY IS READY TO FIND HIS FUREVER HOME! 🐶❤️
Sponsored by Sierra Toyota | Locally Owned • Community Driven
CoolFMLive is excited to introduce this week’s featured adoptable pet, Sisco, a sweet young pup whose journey started during the extreme July heat in Casa Grande.
Sisco was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter without air conditioning. During the early July heat wave, the shelter put out an urgent plea asking rescues to help move as many dogs as possible to safer environments. Arrowings Landing answered that call and took Sisco in.
Now, this happy boy is ready for the next chapter — a family of his own!
🐾 Meet Sisco:
• Approximately 8–9 months old
• Neutered, vaccinated and microchipped
• Fecal and 4DX testing completed
• Lives well alongside dogs both large and small
• Accustomed to livestock, chickens and other animals
• Loves to play — and when playtime is over, he’s more than happy to crawl into your lap for some snuggles!
At just 8–9 months old, Sisco is at a wonderful age to begin building a routine and continue training with his new family. He’s a happy, affectionate young dog with plenty of love and personality to share.
Why consider adopting Sisco?
• Give a rescued dog the second chance he deserves
• Support the work of a local animal rescue
• Welcome a loving new companion into your family
• Help create space so another animal in need can be rescued
Sisco’s adoption fee is $150, and he’s ready to meet the family who will give him the loving home he deserves.
Interested in meeting Sisco or learning more?

❤️ COMMUNITY RALLIES AROUND THE BRISTOW FAMILY AFTER LIGHTNING DESTROYS DREAM HOME ❤️
Hello everyone, my name is Alyssa Jackson, and I am the eldest daughter of Robert and Jeanie Bristow.
On August 3, our family’s lives changed in an instant when lightning struck my parents’ home while no one was there, sparking a devastating fire.
By the grace of God, no one was injured, and all of their beloved animals were safe. Unfortunately, the home itself was destroyed.
Just over a year ago, Robert and Jeanie sold the home our family grew up in and invested their life savings into building what was supposed to be their forever home — a place to retire, gather with family, and enjoy the years they had worked so hard for. They were preparing to finally move in this December.
In a matter of hours, that dream was gone.
The roof collapsed, rooms were destroyed, and nearly everything inside was burned, soaked, or damaged by smoke and debris.
While many have asked whether insurance will cover the loss, unfortunately, it will not cover everything. Insurance will pay off the mortgage, but it will not provide the money needed for a new down payment or to purchase another home. Their savings had already been invested into building this home, leaving them facing the heartbreaking reality of starting over.
For those who know Robert and Jeanie, asking for help does not come easily.
For decades, they have dedicated their lives to educating and supporting students throughout our local communities. Robert has taught mathematics at Tombstone, Buena, and Benson, while Jeanie has taught students in Tombstone and Benson. Together, they have spent their careers encouraging, mentoring, and helping generations of students.
Now, they are the ones who need a helping hand.
I created this GoFundMe to help my parents begin rebuilding their lives. Donations will help with expenses insurance will not cover, including a down payment on a new home and essential household items.
❤️ DONATE OR LEARN MORE HERE:
GoFundMe: gofund.me/f32aaf1a1
Any donation, regardless of the amount, would mean more than we can express. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, former students, coworkers, and community would be an incredible help.
We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Tombstone Fire Department and all first responders and mutual aid crews who answered the call. Despite challenging weather conditions, they worked tirelessly to battle the fire. We will forever be grateful for their courage, professionalism, and dedication.
Thank you for every prayer, kind message, donation, and share. In one of our family’s darkest moments, your kindness reminds us just how much goodness exists within our community.
With love and gratitude,
Alyssa Jackson
