🌧️ WEATHER OUTLOOK: Flood Watch Issued for Cochise County Today July 16, 2026
Residents across Cochise County should prepare for an active monsoon day as the potential for widespread heavy rainfall increases, particularly across western Cochise County, on Thursday, July 16.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch beginning at 2:00 PM today and continuing through late tonight due to the threat of heavy rainfall capable of producing localized flooding.
Current forecasts indicate that some locations could receive 1 to 3 inches of rain, with the Weather Prediction Center placing portions of southeastern Arizona under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall. While not everyone will experience heavy rain, thunderstorms that develop may produce intense downpours in a short period of time, leading to rapid rises in washes, creeks, low-water crossings, and other flood-prone areas.
In addition to the heavy rain threat, strong thunderstorm outflow winds may create hazardous conditions. Wind gusts could become strong enough to produce areas of blowing dust, reducing visibility on area roadways, while isolated storms may also generate damaging wind gusts capable of downing tree limbs and causing minor property damage.
If you encounter flooded roadways, never attempt to drive through standing or moving water. Conditions can change quickly during monsoon storms, and even shallow water can become dangerous.

Saturday, Sept. 26, starting at The Cove!
All participants will receive a t-shirt, challenge coin, and a race bag full of goodies. Youth can participate individually or as part of a relay team (swimmer, cyclist, or runner).
Race leg distances:
Ages 5-10: 50-yard swim, 3-mile bike, and .5-mile run.

MIDWEEK WEATHER UPDATE: DAILY STORM CHANCES CONTINUE 💧
Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast across the region from Wednesday, July 15, through Sunday, July 19.
Storm activity is expected to become more active beginning Thursday. By the weekend, high pressure is forecast to shift back toward the Four Corners region, helping establish a more typical monsoon weather pattern across southeastern Arizona.
Daytime temperatures will generally remain in the low to mid-80s, with overnight lows settling into the mid-60s.
As always during monsoon season, conditions can change quickly. Be prepared for locally heavy rainfall, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and possible roadway flooding near stronger storms.

ST. DAVID GIRL WINS MVP AWARD‼️Behati Jacquez was awarded the MVP award while representing team Mexico in the recent fast pitch classic held in Texas. Her team emerged victorious, defeating team USA 1-0 in the championship game. Behati, 12 years old, participated in the 12u division in Waxahachie, Texas at the World Fast Pitch Classic held July 10th-12th 2026. The team was comprised girls from Arizona, California, and Texas. Behati, from St. David, Arizona, was invited to join players from various cities to represent team Mexico in the esteemed tournament.
