SIERRA VISTA PROUD‼️Laurel Gomez of Sierra Vista won a $40,000 Scholarship along with Top honors for her and her dance team over the weekend in Phoenix AZ.

At just 17, Laurel Gomez has been dancing for 14 years! Her mom, Elizabeth Owens, has sacrificed unimaginable amounts of time, energy, and money in supporting her journey, and taking her as far as Las Vegas for tough competition seasons for nine of those years.

She has performed ballet on pointe in the Sierra Vista Dance Company performance of the Nutcracker, she also loves lyrical dancing, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary.

This past weekend she was able to attend the Fluid Dance Competition and Convention in Phoenix to compete six dance pieces with her team at Dance Force One of Tucson and a solo piece. All seven dance pieces took the highest award Platinum.

But the weekend didn’t end there, because at the end of the convention there were two recipients of college scholarships to the premier performing arts institution, AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy), valued at $40,000! Of course our local star took one of them for her talent, hard work, and positive attitude!

Congratulations, Laurel! You are truly an example of excellence through dedication and perseverance!

We hope to have her featured soon on Coolfmlive with Jeff Davenport.
