GUESS WHO'S COMING TO MAMA'S⁉️ David Russell, owner of The Thirsty Lizard Bar & Grill, has announced a second location in Sierra Vista. Russell shared with Coolfmlive that he will be taking over the former Tell Mama spot 325 W Fry Blvd on the West End in June. Russell is excited to enter the Sierra Vista market and stated, "The Thirsty Lizard Oasis will offer the same atmosphere and menu items as The Thirsty Lizard Bar + Grill near Bisbee🦎, as well as new additions. Hours and opening dates are still to be determined, but the establishment plans to cater to the daytime/lunch crowd during weekdays and late nights on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday Brunch will feature crafted drink specials and Xtreme Bar Bingo." Russell highlighted that reintroducing Karaoke will be a top priority after installing a pool table. The venue will also host original live bands and artists, and a Thirsty Lizard 2Go! Food Truck will be on site during select times. 🚨 FATAL SHOOTING ON 7TH STREET; ONE WOMAN AND DOG DECEASED, ONE PERSON INJURED 🚨
The Sierra Vista Police Department is continuing its investigation following a shooting Wednesday May 20th, 2026 afternoon that resulted in the death of a woman, the death of a dog, and injuries to another individual.
According to the Sierra Vista Police Department:
“Sierra Vista, AZ. 05/21/26. The Sierra Vista Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of one woman and a dog, and an injury to another individual.
On Wednesday, May 20, at about 2 p.m., Southeastern Arizona Communications received several calls from residents reporting a gunshot victim in an apartment complex on the 300 block of 7th Street.
Officers responded to the area and identified a victim on the steps of an apartment building with a gunshot injury to his hand. Officers also observed a second lifeless victim lying on the floor of an apartment on the 2nd floor of the building. When officers entered the apartment, they also found a dog that sustained a gunshot wound.
Officers cleared the apartment and the area was secured as a crime scene. The initial victim was transported by ambulance to Canyon Vista Medical Center for treatment. The dog was transported by Animal Control Officers for medical treatment but later died.
Responding detectives interviewed witnesses, obtained a search warrant for the apartment, and secured evidence related to the investigation, including numerous weapons and drug paraphernalia.
The deceased woman was identified as 43-year-old Calisha Schafer of Sierra Vista.
The investigation into the death of Schafer and the dog, as well as the gunshot injury to the other resident, is ongoing. At this time, there are no outstanding suspects related to this incident. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Thomas Ransford at (520) 452-7500 or Thomas.Ransford@SierraVistaAZ.gov”
